Packaging Machine Operator in Baytown

We are seeking a Packaging Machine Operator to become part of our team! General functions include operate, monitor and maintain packaging equipment for the production or loading and shipping of product. Maintain communication with other departments for needed materials. Provide information and obtain their assistance in machine operations as needed. Report directly to Operator and assist them in maintenance operations as requested.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and tend to machine that packages product and other production equipment
• Transport, load and receive product, raw materials, hopper and equipment to and from shipping and warehousing areas directed by supervisor
• Count and record finished and rejected packaged product
• Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items
• Regulate machine flow, speed and temperature
• Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation and replenish packaging supplies, such as paper and plastic bags/wrap, boxes, pallets, slip sheets, labels, ink ribbons, inkjet ink and makeup fluids
• Clean packaging materials to prepare for product packaging
• Monitor production line and watch for problems such as pile-ups, jams, miss-stacks in the palletizer. Leaks or glue that isn't sticking properly
• Inspect and remove defective products and packaging materials
• Clean and remove damaged or otherwise inferior materials to prepare raw products for processing
• Maintain work area(s) in a clean and safe manner
• Inspect, re-stack and wrap package product as needed
• Maintain plant records, production log, check lists and other plan documents
• Write work orders for repairs and report them to Salt Operator to determine priority level and/or if a call out is needed
• Monitor product and chemical additive quality as required
• Check and confirm accuracy of Line Puller paper work. Signing off on their report
• Perform daily/weekly maintenance of machines, scales, conveyors and screeners
• Perform other tasks that may be required by Production Supervisor, Salt Operator or Management
• Successfully complete the forklift operators training class and maintain a forklift driver certificate or completion (license). As well as Arc Flash and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Basic math
• Basic computer skills

Physical Demands

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• Vision abilities required such as: close vision distance vision vision peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Audiogram

1. Adequate hearing in better ear < 40 dB average hearing loss in 500, 1K, 2K, 3K, and 4K (without hearing aid)

• Vision

1. Vision of at least 20/40 each eye (with or without corrective lenses) (Distance only)
2. Ability to distinguish colors (red, amber and green)
3. Normal depth perception, field of vision at least 70 degrees, reaction time and manual dexterity

Work Hours

• Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts days, nights, weekends and holidays
