Packaging Development Engineer
Full Time Role

Here's how you'll become a key player with this opportunity:

We are looking for a Product Development Engineer – Flexibles with expertise in flexible packaging. This position will lead the design, development, and commercialization of new packaging structures, films, laminations, and pouch formats, while also providing technical support to the labels and folding carton areas of the business. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a practical, customer-focused mindset to deliver solutions that balance performance, cost, and sustainability.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact on the team:

• Manage product development projects from concept through commercialization for flexible packaging applications (films, laminations, pouches)
• Partner with suppliers to identify and qualify innovative raw materials, adhesives, inks, and films that support growth and sustainability initiatives
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to convert customer requirements into packaging solutions
• Design, test, and qualify new materials, structures, and processes in compliance with customer and regulatory standards
• Support manufacturing trials, scale-up, and troubleshooting for new products and processes across flexible, label, and carton categories
• Maintain thorough documentation of development activities, test results, and project updates
• Drive continuous improvements in cost, performance, efficiency, and environmental impact of packaging solutions
• Collaborate with other Product Development Engineers across labels, folding cartons, and integrated packaging

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent experience
• 3–7 years of product development experience in flexible packaging (films, laminations, or converting)
• Strong knowledge of materials, laminations, barrier properties, sealing, and converting processes
• Experience in laboratory testing (tensile, seal strength, WVTR/OTR, migration) and manufacturing trials
• Familiarity with recyclable, compostable, and other sustainable packaging materials is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to work effectively across functions in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment
• Must be able to work on-site in Neenah, Wisconsin, with 20–25% domestic travel
