Your role will encompass crucial responsibilities to ensure the safety and reliability of our nations weight-handling equipment. You will interface daily with government personnel who will depend on you to ensure their mission readiness. You will execute extremely thorough inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and complete repairs in accordance with stringent standards.
Job Location - Quantico, VA or Carderock, MD - Relocation 100% paid for by the company!
Responsibilities for Overhead Crane Technician
Perform work safely
Maintain the integrity, safety, and reputation of the company
Professionally present yourself and communicate with customers
Maintain accountability of assigned equipment and keep it in good working order
Mechanicaldiagnose and repair components such as gears, wheel bearings, wire rope, hook blocks, brakes, and driveshafts
Electricaldiagnose and repair components such as festoons, pendants, wireless controllers, disconnects and fuses, runway electrification, standard control components and motors
Structuraldiagnose and repair components such as end stops, structural members, welds, runways
Troubleshoot commercial components using OEM manuals for electrical, mechanical, and structural components
Develop solutions and estimates for electrical, mechanical, and structural component-level repairs
Gather the necessary data for senior personnel to develop estimates for major repairs, overhauls, and crane replacements
Understand crane terminology including crane components
Perform proper OSHA and NAVFAC P-307 inspections
Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with industry standards such as OSHA, ASME, ANSI, CMAA, MHIA, EM-385
Plan general inspections and repairs as described above
Overnight travel approximately 12-16 weeks per year, typically on weekdays
Qualifications for Overhead Crane Technician
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in electrical systems or related field .
Proven experience as a Motor Controls Technician, Industrial Electrician, or similar role.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, motor control circuits, and PLCs.
Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.
Computer literate
Driver's license
Willing and able to work at heights
Pass background check
Carry 50 lbs
Experience with or exposure to the U.S. Navy Weight Handling Program is
