OSP Engineering Director in Chicago

Responsible for the strategic planning, design, and execution of fiber network infrastructure. This role ensures that all engineering projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and technicians to ensure high-quality output and professional growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop long-term network expansion goals and technical roadmaps for the organization’s physical infrastructure.
  • Project Oversight: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of OSP construction projects, from initial feasibility studies and permitting to final inspection.
  • Budget Management: Responsible for Capex and Opex forecasting, vendor contract negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between internal departments (Sales, Operations, Finance) and external partners (Government agencies, Subcontractors).

 

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years in telecommunications engineering, with at least 4 years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of OSP design principles, permitting processes, and construction standards (e.g., GPON, FTTx).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing large, diverse teams and driving operational excellence.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
