Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced OSP Construction Coordinator / QA-QC Technician to support Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications projects, including underground fiber construction, fiber splicing, and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments.

This role serves as the on-site quality and coordination representative, working closely with subcontractor crews and field managers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. The position combines field oversight, subcontractor coordination, and construction quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Field Oversight & QA/QC

• Perform pre- and post-construction site walkouts to verify project readiness and completion
• Conduct QA/QC inspections of underground fiber installations (conduit, handholes, manholes, etc.)
• Inspect fiber splicing work and infrastructure for compliance with engineering standards
• Ensure subcontractor crews adhere to construction standards, scope, and safety requirements
• Identify and escalate construction issues, errors, or deviations to project leadership
• Verify as-built documentation and assist in troubleshooting routing or construction issues

Subcontractor Coordination

• Coordinate daily with subcontractor field managers and crew leads to plan upcoming work
• Monitor subcontractor progress against project schedules and engineering plans
• Serve as the primary field liaison between subcontractors and internal leadership
• Communicate progress updates, quality concerns, and potential risks to management

Project Coordination & Reporting

• Prepare and support Bills of Materials (BOM) and Notice to Proceed (NTP) documentation
• Track construction progress and provide regular (weekly) status reports
• Assist with permitting coordination and communication with municipalities as needed
• Maintain accurate project documentation, inspection records, and photo logs

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in OSP telecommunications construction, underground fiber, or utility construction
• Working knowledge of FTTH infrastructure and underground cable installation practices
• Experience coordinating or overseeing subcontractor crews
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber network layouts, and engineering plans
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar reporting tools
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Work Environment

This role includes a combination of office-based coordination and active fieldwork. Field responsibilities involve walking construction sites, inspecting infrastructure, and working outdoors in various conditions.

Travel to job sites throughout Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas is required.
