Our organization is in search of a driven and customer-focused Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA) to become a part of our team in Quantico, VA. This position plays a crucial role in facilitating intricate wargaming events, utilizing analytical techniques to evaluate future force capabilities and influence Marine Corps doctrine.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement wargames and tabletop exercises aligned with the strategic goals of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory.
- Utilize operations research, statistical analysis, and mathematical modeling methods to assess wargame results and operational concepts.
- Work collaboratively with military planners, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to establish wargame scenarios, objectives, and evaluation criteria.
- Gather, process, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data produced during wargaming events to uncover trends and identify capability gaps.
- Prepare detailed analytical reports, presentations, and briefings to convey findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Assist in the integration of modeling and simulation tools to improve the realism and analytical depth of wargame execution.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or a related analytical field, along with over 5 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis supporting military operations, wargaming, or defense planning. Alternatively, a total of 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Proven expertise in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools (such as Python, R, Tableau, and Excel).
- A solid understanding of the Marine Corps organizational structure, doctrine, and concepts related to future force design.
- Demonstrated ability to convert complex data into actionable insights and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Operations Research or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in designing evaluation frameworks and data collection strategies for exercises or wargames.
- Familiarity with combat modeling and simulation tools utilized within the Department of Defense.
- Previous military service, especially within the United States Marine Corps, with a background in operational planning.
Clearance Requirements
Applicants must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance.
Physical Requirements
- Willingness and ability to perform occasional manual labor and warehouse tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to remain in a stationary position for approximately 50% of the time.
