Job Description
We are working with a leading, independent business based in Wolverhampton, who are looking to recruit their Operations Manager, to form part of their Senior Leadership Team. \n\nAs Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of operations, including Production, Warehouse/Yard, Transport & Logistics, Procurement, Customer Service, and Health & Safety.\n\nYou will lead departmental managers, ensuring all functions operate efficiently, collaboratively, and in line with business objectives. A key focus of the role is driving performance, improving processes, and delivering industry-leading customer service.\n\nThe business is currently experiencing sustained double-digit growth in turnover, which is expected to continue, making this a key role in scaling operations to support ongoing expansion along with the required processes and workflow.
\n\nYou will also play a pivotal role in managing the transition to a new facility, ensuring continuity of operations and minimal disruption.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOperational Leadership\n\nTake full accountability for day-to-day operations across all departments \nAlign production, warehouse, logistics, and customer service to ensure smooth workflow \nDrive continuous improvement, efficiency, and cost control across the business \nEstablish, monitor, and deliver against KPIs \nImplement and document scalable process, workflows and lean management.Production & Manufacturing\n\nOversee production planning, output, and efficiency \nEnsure manufacturing processes (including fabrication and bespoke orders) meet quality and delivery standards \nOversee powder coating and investigate feasibility to bring in house \nIdentify and implement process improvements to increase productivity Warehouse, Yard & Stock Control\n\nManage goods in/out operations and yard organisation \nEnsure accurate stock control systems and regular stock audits \nMaintain optimal stock levels to support production and customer demand Transport & Logistics\n\nDevelop and maintain an efficient and cost-effective transport plan \nCoordinate closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely dispatch \nMonitor delivery performance and customer satisfaction Customer Service & Office Operations\n\nOversee order processing to ensure speed and accuracy \nEnsure proactive communication with customers on lead times and deliveries \nSupport handling of bespoke and complex orders Commercial & Sales Support\n\nSupport the sales team in winning new business and key accounts\nWork closely with sales to ensure operational capability aligns with customer requirements \nEngage with customers when required, including site visits and relationship management\nContribute to pricing, lead time commitments, and service offering to improve win rates \nDrive a customer-first mindset across all operational departments Procurement\n\nManage purchasing of raw materials and stock \nOversee the import of raw materials, including supplier coordination, shipping, lead times, and cost control \nEnsure compliance with import regulations, duties, and documentation requirements \nWork closely with CMT Group procurement to leverage group buying power \nMonitor supplier performance to maintain cost efficiency and continuity of supply People Management & HR\n\nLead, develop, and support departmental managers \nOversee recruitment, onboarding, and absence management for operational teams \nBuild a high-performance, accountable, and engaged workforce Health & Safety\n\nEnsure full compliance with H&S legislation and company policies \nPromote and maintain a strong safety-first culture Projects & Site Transition\n\nLead the transition to new premises \nPlan and execute the move with minimal disruption \nIdentify risks and implement mitigation strategies Requirements\n\nProven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment\nStrong track record in multi-department operations management\nExperience overseeing production, logistics, and stock control\nExperience in procurement and sourcing of raw materials, including importing \nWorking knowledge of import processes, shipping logistics, and customs/duties requirements\nCommercially aware with experience supporting sales growth and customer acquisition\nExperience working closely with sales teams to convert opportunities into orders\nConfident engaging with customers, including site visits and relationship management\nDemonstrated ability in project management (site relocation advantageous) \nStrong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and financial performance\nExperience implementing KPIs and performance management frameworks\nExcellent communication, leadership, and organisational skillsBenefits\n\nSalary- £55,000- £75,000 depending on experience \nMonday- Friday- Day shifts \n\nIND25
