Operations Manager – Manufacturing (Continuous Production Environment)

An exciting opportunity is available for a hands-on and people-driven leader to oversee daily operations at a continuous manufacturing site. This high-impact position plays a pivotal role in aligning production teams with executive leadership, ensuring exceptional standards in safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in operations management, team leadership, and process optimization, with a focus on driving performance improvement across a multi-shift environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of plant operations in a continuous production setting.
  • Supervise and mentor production supervisors, team leads, and hourly employees across multiple shifts.
  • Ensure consistent communication between crews through structured handoffs, daily briefings, and shift accountability practices.
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, safety, and logistics departments to meet production and operational goals.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold facility safety standards.
  • Support capital improvement projects and oversee vendor management in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, scrap reduction, quality improvement, and increased throughput.
  • Manage labor planning, shift scheduling, and overtime to ensure optimal staffing and productivity.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and positive work culture across all production shifts.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights to executive teams and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence, including during off-hours, to support employees and ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in plant management or operations leadership within a manufacturing environment.
  • background in plastics manufacturing or extrusion processes.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-shift operations, with a track record of strong people management and cultural development.
  • Demonstrated success applying Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong floor leadership style with the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Balanced approach to hands-on leadership and strategic decision-making.
