Kingfisher Recruiting is working with a great client in the Milford area to hire an Operations Manager to manage Ops for their Landscaping company. This is a growing company supporting landscaping, hardscaping, lighting and commercial snow removal.
Operations Manager — Landscaping
Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our residential and commercial landscaping, lawn care, snow & ice management, and property-maintenance business. This role is responsible for ensuring service quality, operational efficiency, high customer satisfaction, and the ability to scale seasonally.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and optimize all operational-functions including scheduling, crew deployment, materials/equipment logistics, quality assurance, and service delivery across residential and commercial accounts.
- Coordinate seasonal workflows (e.g., spring clean-ups, landscape installs, mowing/maintenance, fall clean-ups, snow & ice management) and develop ramp-up/down plans to match demand fluctuations.
- Develop, monitor and report key operational metrics (on-time performance, job-completion rates, crew productivity, cost per job, customer satisfaction scores) and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the scheduling of crews, subcontractors and equipment; ensure all jobs are staffed, resourced and executed to plan.
- Supervise, mentor and develop field leads, crew foremen and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality workmanship, consistent service standards and adherence to company policies.
- Ensure job proposals/orders flow seamlessly from sales/estimating through scheduling to execution and final invoicing; address bottlenecks and process gaps.
- Maintain strong communication with customers—both residential homeowners and commercial clients—ensuring expectations are set, progress is communicated, issues are resolved promptly and final quality inspections are completed to satisfaction.
- Oversee inventory, procurement and maintenance of tools, vehicles and equipment to support field operations. Manage vendor relationships for materials, supplies and subcontracted services.
- Implement and enforce operational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent service standards, regulatory compliance (OSHA, snow/ice regulations, etc.) and safety practices.
- Work closely with leadership to prepare operational budgets, forecast seasonal resource needs, and support strategic growth initiatives (new service lines, geographic expansion, partnerships).
- Lead post-job reviews, quality audits and customer feedback loops to drive service improvement and root-cause resolution of recurring issues.
- Facilitate training and onboarding for new crew members, ensuring alignment with company culture, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of operations management experience in landscaping, property services, lawn-care, or similar field service industry.
- Strong understanding of seasonal business models, resource scheduling, crew management, maintenance operations, and customer-facing service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously, prioritize tasks under time pressure and thrive in a dynamic, outdoor operations environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate field teams, build a positive culture and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Analytical mindset with experience in operational metrics, budgeting, forecasting and process improvement.
- Proficiency with scheduling/dispatch software, field-service management platforms, Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and mobile workforce tools.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between job sites as needed; comfortable being on-site periodically to observe operations and lead by example.
- Strong safety and commitment to a culture of safe operations and jobsite compliance.
