Established in 1973, our client has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and is now looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager / Operations Cell Manager to join their growing team.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about driving safety, quality, team performance, and continuous improvement.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nAs Operations Manager / Operations Cell Manager, you will take ownership of a key operational area, leading a skilled team to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.\n\nYou’ll play a central role in developing team capability, improving operational performance, and fostering a positive, safety-first culture across the business.\n\nThis role would suit someone with strong leadership experience within engineering or manufacturing who enjoys problem-solving, process improvement, and developing high-performing teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead and promote a strong health & safety culture across your operational area\n\n * Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and operational procedures, including PUWER - Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations and LOLER - Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations\n\n * Drive operational performance, ensuring on-time delivery and exceptional product quality\n\n * Lead daily production meetings, manage workflow, and coordinate team activities\n\n * Develop and mentor team members, ensuring training and competency requirements are met\n\n * Work collaboratively with Purchasing and other departments to maintain production flow and material availability\n\n * Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction\n\n * Manage employee performance, attendance, and conduct in line with company policies\n\n * Build strong working relationships across the wider business to support operational success\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\nEssential Skills & Experience\n\n * Previous experience within engineering or manufacturing\n\n * Proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced production environment\n\n * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles\n\n * Strong organisational and prioritisation skills\n\n * Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities\n\n * Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities\n\n * Structured problem-solving experience (8D or similar methodologies)\n\n * High attention to detail and a proactive mindset\n\nDesirable\n\n * Lean / Process Excellence qualification (Green Belt or Black Belt)\n\n * Experience within the Rail or HVAC sectors\n\n * Full UK driving licence\n\nWhat’s On Offer?\n\n * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays\n\n * Additional celebration day\n\n * Company pension scheme\n\n * Profit Share Scheme\n\n * Ongoing training and development opportunities\n\n * Employee Assistance Programme\n\n * Free on-site parking\n\n * Early finish every Friday
