Operations Manager (Early-Career) - Club OODAZU

Job DescriptionJob Description

About Club OODAZU

Club OODAZU is a first-of-its-kind family sports and enrichment facility in Decatur, GA — offering youth and adult sports, S.T.E.A.M. programs, camps, parties, and more. This is our newest concept and part of the OODAZU family — the premier, multi-location destination for children’s play, parties, camp, and retail experiences.

We are looking for an early-career Operations Manager ready to take the next step into a full management role. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will gain experience across all areas of facility operations — from scheduling and staffing to guest service and event execution — with the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role as OODAZU continues to expand. If you thrive in a busy, high-energy environment and want to build a career in recreation or facility management & operations, this is the place for you.

This is a rare opportunity to gain broad, hands-on management experience early in your career. As Club OODAZU grows, so will this role — with opportunities for expanded responsibilities, leadership development, and increased compensation for high performers.

Schedule

This is an on-site role with an expected weekly commitment of 45–50 hours:

  • Wednesday–Friday: 12 PM – 9 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Monday & Tuesday: Days off (on call / available as needed; responsive to urgent issues)

Flexibility is essential — you’ll gain real-world experience managing an active facility and will occasionally be called in outside these hours for urgent needs. Typical work week is 45-50 hours. The above schedule does not include camp days (these specific weekdays begin earlier around 8am).

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Scheduling

You will take on full operational responsibility while receiving mentorship from the General Manager — learning how to run a multi-sport, family-focused facility from the ground up.

  • Oversee daily logistics, including opening/closing procedures, staff scheduling, scheduling of courts, turf, and batting cages, ensuring smooth transitions between programs, rentals, and events
  • Personally assist with equipment setup/teardown and step in as needed to keep programming on schedule
  • Implement & maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain OODAZU’s high standards for cleanliness, safety, and guest service
  • Coordinate with third-party partners and instructors to confirm scheduling accuracy

Customer Experience & Front Desk Oversight

  • Lead a culture of exceptional hospitality — greeting families, answering questions, and modeling high-touch customer service
  • Be a visible, approachable presence at the front desk, stepping in during peak hours to assist with check-ins and direct customer traffic
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly, using a hands-on approach to maintain a positive experience
  • Utilize facility management software to monitor attendance, bookings, and customer feedback

Team Leadership & Staffing

  • Recruit, onboard, train & manage part-time staff for front desk, maintenance, and café operations
  • Build weekly staff schedules and fill in on shifts when coverage is needed
  • Work side-by-side with team members during busy periods, modeling best practices and supporting their success
  • Provide on-the-ground coaching and feedback to maintain performance standards
  • Create daily task plans for all staff members to ensure all required tasks are completed
  • Foster a positive, motivated, and team-first culture

Facility Maintenance & Cleanliness

  • Oversee daily cleaning and upkeep of courts, turf, bathrooms, common areas, and café
  • Roll up your sleeves to help with cleaning, restocking, or minor fixes to ensure the facility always looks its best
  • Coordinate with vendors and manage inventory for supplies and merchandise, maintenance, office, first aid, and staff uniforms
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment servicing

Café / Food & Beverage Management

  • Manage café operations, including inventory, food safety compliance, and staffing
  • Jump behind the counter when needed to keep service moving during busy times
  • Work with GM to evaluate menu offerings and streamline operations

Ad-Hoc & Emergency Response

  • Remain responsive on “OFF” days and be flexible for last-minute needs or disruptions, including but not limited to:
    • staff shortages,
    • urgent facility or maintenance issues,
    • customer service escalations,
    • vendor delivery problems,
    • technology malfunctions, or
    • other time-sensitive business concerns that require managerial oversight

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by enforcing facility rules, monitoring for hazards, and ensuring waiver compliance
  • Respond to incidents personally and maintain first aid readiness

Program & Event Support

  • Act as the operational point person for leagues, tournaments, parties, and events
  • Be hands-on during setup and breakdown, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with registration system setup, roster management, and daily reports
  • Track attendance and provide weekly operational updates to GM
  • Maintain organized records for staff onboarding and compliance
  • Other duties as required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 annually (based on experience; growth potential as role & company expand)
  • Bonuses: Performance-based opportunities tied to results & KPI’s
  • Benefits:
    • Paid time off: 2 weeks of PTO annually to recharge and reset
    • Complimentary access for employee & family to Club OODAZU amenities
    • Discounts on enrichment programs, after school care, camps, parties, and retail

Qualifications

  • A high-energy, can-do attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
  • Early-career professional with a desire to grow into a senior operations leadership role
  • Ability to lead teams while working shoulder-to-shoulder with them when needed
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and vendors
  • Comfortable with technology — able to manage registration systems and scheduling software (training will be provided)
  • Experience supervising staff and working in family-oriented or youth-serving environments
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to lift / operate heavy sports equipment (such as basketball hoops, volleyball carts, soccer goals, etc.), and be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends consistently
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between locations and / or to source required supplies
  • 3 professional references required
