Operations Manager

Piper Maddox are partnered with a leading independent power producer that is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee daily operations for one of its California generation facilities. The company operates a diverse fleet including combined cycle, peaking, battery storage, and renewable assets, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily plant operations ensuring safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee both on-site operations and the development of a Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC) managing 12 peaker plants and BESS assets.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and commercial teams to optimize plant performance and reliability.
• Support outage planning, performance reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of experience managing operations of complex power plants (combined cycle, peaker, or similar).
• Strong SCADA and air permit compliance expertise, preferably within California’s air districts.
• Proven experience developing or overseeing ROCC operations.
• Deep understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements in the power sector.
