Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: Tipton, West Midlands, United Kingdom
Role:Full-time, Monday to Friday (13.00 – 22.00 shift pattern)
Salary: Up to £38,000
Our client is looking for a driven and experienced Operations Manager to join their Tipton depot and help us deliver exceptional service, operational excellence, and a safer, more sustainable future. This role covers the afternoon / evening shift.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Operations Manager, you’ll support the Depot Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring service delivery meets key performance indicators (KPIs) while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the traffic dispatcher team and drivers
- Monitor depot KPIs across service, safety, and profitability
- Ensure vehicle availability and effective route planning
- Manage team performance, training, and development
- Handle absence management and disciplinary procedures
- Plan for seasonal and holiday service adjustments
- Conduct customer visits and resolve service issues
- Drive cost control and operational efficiency
- Uphold all Health & Safety standards and procedures
- Act as Deputy to the Depot Manager when required

What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills:
- \n
- Previous experience as a Transport Manager or similar role in logistics/services
- Strong people management and H&S experience in a unionised environment
- Proven ability to meet service delivery KPIs and manage costs
- Familiarity with route planning software (e.g., Route Monkey, DPS LogiX)
- Understanding of Lean Management principles

- Knowledge of transport legislation and local geography
- Experience in the waste industry and relevant regulations
