Position Summary:

The Operations Manager for Destaco is responsible for safely producing quality products to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner. He/she will coordinate operations activities, manage and direct all machining and assembly resources. He/she will ensure produce quality and service to customers. He/she will control cost of goods sold and maximize return assets. He/she will maintain, track and report performance metrics. He/she will support and lead lean transformation and culture. He/she is responsible for maintaining a clean area, free of safety or health concerns.

The Operations Manager reports to the Vice President and General Manager. The position has production supervisors as direct reports and requires some travel (up to 10%). The position requires the ability to communicate globally with General Managers, Sales, Applications Engineering, Customer Service, Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations.

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Focuses on maintaining the quality and safety of all products while motivating a team of workers.
  • Coordinates activities of department to ensure compliance with company business objectives.
  • Develops and drives production planning, scheduling, capacity analysis, and new product implementation as required.
  • Utilizes industrial engineering applications to provide efficient assembly of products that meets quantity, qualify, scheduled and cost standards.
  • Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, and provides regular training.
  • Maintains close surveillance over set-up procedures and machining operations.
  • Analyzes and diagnoses machine problems to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures and prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
  • Coordinates machine set-ups and operations requiring a broad range of assembly/machining processes.
  • Works closely with other departments in implementing process improvements and other solutions to achieve plant goals for production output, efficiencies, unit cost, and quality.
  • Develops and constantly drive initiatives designed to improve productivity of people and resources within assigned area
  • Ensures that production teams operate within the plant safety regulations and guidelines at all times.
  • Maintains a clean area, free of safety or health concerns.
  • Coordinates operations activities, manage and direct all machining and assembly resources.
  • Ensures product quality and service to customers.
  • Controls cost of goods sold and maximize return assets.
  • Maintains, tracks, and reports performance metrics.
  • Supports and leads lean transformation and culture.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Requires five (5) years’ supervising experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven record of accomplishments in a low-volume/high-mix production environment
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing methodologies (5S, Six-Sigma, Kaizen)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership with a drive for results

  • Analytical thinker with a drive to create innovative solutions for sustainability
  • Extensive technical and business product knowledge globally
  • In-depth knowledge of Engineering and Quality Systems

  • Ability to work in teams maintaining a high level of communication and interaction
  • Ability to lead a culture of continuous improvement
  • Excellent communicator including facilitation, verbal, and written skills

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or other manufacturing related discipline.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
