Operations Engineer – EV Charging Networks



Electrification of transport is a central part of the organisation’s Net Zero Strategy, reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and supporting business growth. The company builds, owns, and operates publicly accessible Electric Vehicle (EV) charging networks across Ireland and the UK, with over 1,000 stations and plans for significant expansion.



In Britain, over 320 HPC, Rapid, and AC charging stations operate across London, Coventry, and Birmingham, with nationwide growth through HPC hubs. Additional sites are continually coming online, supporting the organisation’s strategy to expand its EV infrastructure and maintain a leadership position in electromobility.



The EV operations team manages the performance and availability of networks in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain. Responsibilities include active performance management, timely fault correction to SLA, reporting and analysis of faults and complaints, preventative and corrective maintenance, and supporting network expansion and upgrades.



This role supports and coordinates with the Senior Operations Engineer for the GB market and reports to the Head of Operations, working closely with contractors and service providers.



Key Responsibilities



Network Reliability: Ensure public EV charging networks operate at 99% reliability in all jurisdictions.



Safety: Apply and maintain high standards for equipment, staff, contractor, and public safety.



Contractor & Supplier Management: Manage maintenance contractors and charge station suppliers to agreed KPIs, draft tender documentation, conduct evaluations, and contribute to procurement strategies.



Customer Focus: Ensure infrastructure is safe, dependable, and customer-friendly, monitoring and addressing issues promptly.



Telecommunications: Work with providers to maintain reliable communications with infrastructure and resolve issues as they arise.



Analytics & Reporting: Produce performance reports for GB networks and individual equipment, identify issues, perform root cause analyses, and recommend actions to optimise performance.



Process & Procedure Development: Continuously review and improve existing processes and procedures based on feedback and performance analysis.



Qualifications



Essential



Degree in electrical, electronic, or telecommunications engineering.



Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, including IT systems or equivalent relevant experience.



Experience in contractor and supplier management, ideally across multiple sites.



Strong initiative, self-direction, and troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment problems.



Full clean UK Driver’s Licence.



Awareness of safety obligations and promotion of a safety culture.



Ability to work independently and collaboratively, leading aspects of work when required.



Desirable



Practical knowledge of electrical design or construction site experience.



Location

Based in London/Coventry, with occasional travel to Ireland.

Reports to the Head of Operations.
