Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for the daily operations of the nuclear imaging department. The Technologist works independently and performs all nuclear related imaging, is responsible for maintaining quality control compliance with all equipment within the nuclear imaging department, and maintaining all records as required by the state and NRC. Technologist performs the highest standards of patient care and safety when performing procedures and ensures quality studies for physician review.


Duties and Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic cardiac nuclear medicine procedures.

Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as specified in NRC and state licenses.

Demonstrates complete knowledge in all imaging procedures, equipment and quality control.

Able to start intravenous lines for radiopharmaceutical administration and other pharmacological media as needed.

Completes all technical assigned imaging in the designated scheduled times.

Prepares, verifies, documents and administers all radiopharmaceuticals.

Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides assistance during procedures as needed.

Performs daily and weekly quality control on all nuclear medicine related equipment and records all pertinent information.


Requirements

  • Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Program and CT program/certificate
  • Dual certification as a nuclear medicine technologist and medical radiologic technologist in this state.
  • Current State of DE License: Radiation Technologist
  • Current certification in CPR: Basic Life Support
