Job Summary:
The NDT Technician performs non-destructive examinations to evaluate the integrity of welds, materials, and structural components using ultrasonic testing (UT) and other NDE methods. This role supports quality assurance efforts across production and field operations, ensuring compliance with industry codes and internal standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform ultrasonic testing (UT) in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A and applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct additional NDE methods (MT, PT, RT, VT) as qualified and required.
- Interpret and evaluate test results to determine material and weld acceptability.
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and data logs.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, engineering, and production teams to resolve inspection-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality control procedures during all inspections.
- Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment and accessories.
- Participate in field inspections, including travel to job sites and remote locations.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Level I or Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or vocational education .
- Strong understanding of NDE principles, inspection techniques, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
- Willingness to travel and work in field environments, including outdoors and elevated areas.
- Proficient in documentation and report writing.
Skills:
- Additional NDE certifications (MT, PT, RT, VT) are a plus.
- Experience in pipeline, structural steel, or aerospace inspections.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with digital NDT systems and inspection software.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in industrial and field settings.
- Exposure to heat, noise, and airborne particles typical of manufacturing and construction environments.
- Required use of PPE including gloves, goggles, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and maneuver in confined spaces.
