MSP Lab is seeking a high-calibre Network Infrastructure Engineer to deliver and support solutions, including:
- Next-Generation Firewalls
- EDR and MDR
- Web Filtering & Safeguarding
- Wired and wireless networks
- Server and storage technologies
- Backup technologies
- Cloud IaaS
The role will include technical pre-sales, project delivery and ongoing support.
Required Competencies
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- 2nd/3rd line network configuration and troubleshooting
- 2nd/3rd line Windows Server configuration and troubleshooting
- 2nd/3rd line firewall configuration and troubleshooting
- Working on a varied ServiceDesk within the ITIL framework
- Scoping and designing solutions for clients
- Delivering on-site and remote projects
Required Experience:
- Fortinet NSE4 certification or equivalent experience
- Thorough understanding of Networking Principles i.e. DNS, DHCP, IP Subnetting, Routing
- Microsoft Intune and Entra ID (Prev. Azure AD)
- Email Protection and security
- Thorough understanding of Web Filtering configuration
- Aruba Wired and Wireless
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience delivering IT Services within schools or educational organisations
- Extended working knowledge of the Fortinet Fabric
- A strong understanding of Cyber Security best practices, Cyber Essentials.
- Securly
- Barracuda Email Protection
- Server and Storage Technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, HPE)
- Veeam or other backup technologies
- Sophos or other XDR technologies
Responsibilities and Tasks
Leverage our portfolio of accomplished industry-leading technologies to:
- Act as a key member of our technical pre-sales function, designing best-practice solutions
- Deliver on-site and remote project engineering, keeping clients updated throughout
- Provide on-going remote 2nd/3rd line support to clients’ IT Managers and IT Teams
- Deliver mission-critical design, delivery and support services to our managed firewall clients
- Create and maintain technology documentation
Be proficient at:
- Keep our CRM & PSA up to date
- Act as a stakeholder for client projects from discovery through to completion
- Resolving and acting as a point of escalation for all customers.
- Working closely with all areas of the business to ensure that a positive customer experience is maintained consistently.
Keep informed of Market and Competitor activity and feed this back to the team to ensure we are always providing the best value and best technology portfolio
- Representing the company at industry and trade events
- Engaging clients with a consultative approach
- Work with clients and colleagues to create technical roadmaps
- Provide senior engineering and IT manager cover
- Any other responsibilities required to support the business
Personal Attributes and Experience
- You will have demonstrable experience in IT infrastructure engineering and project design, delivered to key stakeholders and clients and a credible track record of client delight
- You will have commercial awareness and, ideally, have experience with Independent Schools
- You will build long-term relationships with our clients as an outstanding technical resource
- Consistently deliver outstanding customer service
- Highly effective verbal and written communicator with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to listen and provide attentive counsel to our clients
- Excellent presentation skills (virtual and face-to-face)
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- A “self-starter” who can add value to and help to mature existing processes
- Must hold a full UK Driving License, have use of a vehicle during the working week and be prepared to travel for work, with occasional overnight stays
- Must have a suitable home working environment
