Job Description

We’re looking for a hands-on Network & Cable Installation Engineer to join a growing healthcare technology supplier making a real impact across the NHS. At Active Tagging (Xtag Medical), we design, manufacture and install specialist security systems used in hospitals to help protect patients and support clinical teams. Our systems are installed in over 65 NHS Trusts and we are expanding our NHS customer-base year-on-year. This is a great opportunity to be part of a close-knit team delivering meaningful projects in live healthcare environments across the UK.

The Role

This is a varied, field-based role combining network installation, system setup and on-site problem solving. You’ll be working in NHS hospitals, installing, and commissioning systems that need to work first time, every time.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installation of CAT6 and PoE network infrastructure
• Installing and terminating patch panels, faceplates, and cabling
• Testing and commissioning network systems
• Assisting with wider IT and system installations
• Supporting engineers on-site and ensuring high-quality installs
• Working professionally within live hospital environments

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Experience with PoE / CAT6 / network installations
• Full UK driving licence
• Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
• Professional in clinical environments
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable, organised, calm under pressure

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience with installation of data cabs and PoE switches
• CSCS card
• DBS certificate
• First Aid, Asbestos Awareness, Ladder/Platform certifications

Full training is provided, and we’ll support the right candidate in gaining additional qualifications.

What to Expect

• UK-wide travel with regular overnight stays
• A mix of physical installation work and technical setup
• Working in live NHS environments, so professionalism is key
• When not on-site, you may be required to attend our office in Otley, West Yorkshire
