Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Days Only)\n\nContract Type: Permanent\n\nAnnual Salary: £39,000 - £41,000\n\nWorking Pattern: Full Time\n\nLocation: Gateshead\n\nRole Purpose\nJoin our client's manufacturing team as a Maintenance Engineer, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all production machinery. You will play a vital role in reactive breakdown response and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a variety of mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nExecute planned preventative maintenance on CNC routers, woodworking machinery, panel saws, and other production equipment.\nDiagnose faults quickly during breakdowns and implement effective, permanent repairs.\nConduct routine inspections on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to maintain optimal performance.\nMaintain comprehensive records of repairs, installations, and PPM activities.\nAssist in the installation, upgrading, and commissioning of new machinery in production and assembly areas.\nCollaborate with production supervisors to schedule maintenance without disrupting workflow.\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.\nEnsure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.\nManage spare parts and consumables inventory effectively. \n\nQualifications & Experience Required\n\nLevel 3 NVQ / BTEC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.\nExperience in manufacturing maintenance.\nStrong mechanical skills with desirable electrical experience.\nAbility to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics proficiently.\nFamiliarity with pneumatics and hydraulics.\nProven fault-finding experience in mechanical and electrical systems.
