Job Title: Mechatronics Technician (Electrical Bias)\nDepartment: Engineering & Maintenance\nLocation: Wolverhampton\nReporting To: Engineering Manager\n\nOverview\n\nAn established manufacturing organisation is seeking a skilled Electrically Biased Mechatronics Technician to support the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of high-volume production equipment. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\n * Recognised electrical engineering qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent), or demonstrable hands-on experience at an equivalent level\n\n * Proven background in electrical maintenance within a high-volume manufacturing or production environment\n\n * Strong working knowledge of PLC systems, including Siemens S7 and/or Allen Bradley\n\n * Multi-skilled capability with a willingness to support mechanical maintenance activities where required\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery to maximise uptime and efficiency\n\n * Complete all maintenance documentation, data recording, and reporting accurately and within required timeframes\n\n * Perform preventative maintenance and condition-based monitoring activities\n\n * Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and technical drawings\n\n * Support installation and upgrade projects, including cabling, containment systems, and electrical infrastructure\n\n * Work with systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC controls\n\n * Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards\n\n * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practice\n\n * Provide cross-functional support to other maintenance personnel when required\n\n * Participate in training and development to remain compliant with current legislation and industry standards\n\n * Communicate effectively across all levels of the business\n\n * Support shift cover, overtime, and call-out requirements as needed\n\nSkills & Competencies\n\n * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability\n\n * Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment\n\n * Team-oriented with the ability to support and influence others\n\n * Good numerical and IT skills, including maintenance management systems\n\n * Flexible, proactive, and committed to ongoing learning and development\n\nTechnical Knowledge\n\n * Electrical systems and wiring regulations\n\n * PLC fault finding and basic programming awareness\n\n * Pneumatics and hydraulics (basic level)\n\n * Fabrication and basic welding (desirable)\n\n * General mechanical fitting skills\n\nWorking Environment\n\nThis role operates within a fast-paced, results-driven manufacturing environment.
