Engineering Tutor - Multi-Skilled\n \n Salary: £41,034\n Hours: Full Time\n Contract: Permanent\n Location: Hertfordshire area (site-based delivery)\n Please only apply if you can commute to this location 5 days a week. It is entirely site-based.\n \n The Opportunity\n This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an Engineering Tutor / Lecturer / Trainer / Assessor to join an organisation at a pivotal moment.\n \n They are about to launch a brand-new Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship programme, and this role will sit right at the heart of it. Rather than stepping into an established course, the successful candidate will play a key role in designing, shaping and launching the curriculum, helping to build the programme from the ground up and embedding best practice from day one.\n \n This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys influencing curriculum, setting standards, and getting a programme off the ground, while still delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment to apprentices.\n \n About the Role\n The Engineering Apprenticeship Tutor will deliver engaging, industry-relevant training and assessment across apprenticeship programmes, with an initial focus on the Level 2 Engineering Operative standard.\n \n The role blends practical workshop delivery, classroom teaching, and apprenticeship assessment, working closely with employers to ensure learning is aligned to real workplace skills and behaviours.\n \n Key elements include:\n \nDesigning and developing new curriculum content and learning materials \nDelivering outstanding teaching, training and assessment \nManaging a caseload of apprentices and supporting them through to timely completion \nWorking collaboratively with employers to tailor learning plans \nSupporting apprentices to develop both technical competence and employability skills \n Ideal Background\n This role would suit someone from a strong mechanical / machining background, ideally with hands-on experience in:\n \nLathes (manual and/or CNC) \nMilling \nTurning \nGeneral workshop machining \nMechanical fitting or manufacturing environments \n Some electrical experience alongside a mechanical background would be a strong advantage, particularly within a multi-skilled engineering context.\n \n Applicants may currently be working as (or have previously worked as):\n \nEngineering Tutor \nEngineering Lecturer \nEngineering Trainer \nEngineering Assessor \nWorkshop Instructor \nSenior Engineer looking to move into education \n Key Responsibilities\n \nDeliver high-quality apprenticeship teaching, training and assessment \nPlay an active role in developing and shaping a new engineering apprenticeship curriculum \nSupport apprentice recruitment, induction and initial assessment \nPlan and deliver engaging, inclusive and industry-aligned learning programmes \nCarry out progress reviews and set clear, achievable targets with apprentices and employers \nSupport apprentices with practical assessments and portfolio evidence \nEnsure compliance with awarding body, Ofsted and apprenticeship standards \nPromote high standards of behaviour, safety and professional conduct \nEmbed maths, English and employability skills into delivery \nMaintain accurate records using an e-portfolio system \n What They're Looking For\n \nStrong industry experience in mechanical engineering / machining \nTeaching, training or assessing experience or a clear desire to move into education \nRelevant occupational qualifications (or degree-level engineering qualification) \nPassion for developing people and raising standards \nConfidence delivering both practical and theory-based learning \nAbility to work collaboratively with employers and internal teams \nCommitment to safeguarding, equality, and learner wellbeing (Support with teaching or assessing qualifications may be available for the right candidate.)\n \n Unfortunately, sponsorship isnt available on this position - you must hold full Right to work and already reside in the UK to be considered
