We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at a manufacturing facility in Colonial Heights, VA. This role is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on all production and facility equipment. A strong emphasis is placed on electrical and electronic systems, particularly 480V 3-Phase power, while also requiring mechanical aptitude across various systems. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and display proficiency in tasks ranging from MIG welding to gear replacements and mechanical system troubleshooting.
Payrate: $34/hr
Location: Colonial Heights, VA
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems up to 480V, 3-Phase, including AC/DC variable speed drives and power distribution systems.
- Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC controls, including ladder logic programming.
- Fabricate and repair components using MIG welding and other metalworking techniques.
- Change gears, belts, motors, and other mechanical components as needed.
- Conduct mechanical repairs and support production lines to ensure minimal downtime.
- Work safely with industrial electrical panels, sensors, relays, motors, switches, and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of work performed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of 480V 3-Phase systems and industrial safety practices.
- Proven experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on experience with MIG welding, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics and PLC ladder logic.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
- Familiarity with PLC programming software, HMI interfaces, and maintenance tracking systems (CMMS).
Working Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, grease, dust, and high temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms or confined spaces.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts:
- 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays)
