We are looking for the best

We are vertically integrating all aspects of energy and thermal controls at 42dot, enabling innovation in next electric vehicles. As a Staff Modeling Engineer, you will develop and validate physics-based and data-driven models that support battery, energy, and thermal systems. You will collaborate closely with control engineers to evaluate different strategies and drive decisions that optimize vehicle performance. Your work will drive real-time vehicle energy optimization, maximizing battery utilization while protecting battery life, and enable intelligent features that will empower users to drive farther, charge faster, stay comfortable, and trust their vehicle in all environments.

Responsibilities

Develop multi-domain mathematical and data-driven models of battery and thermal systems that mimics the behavior of the real system

Work with different levels of test setup to characterize the real system and calibrate the model

Validate models using test data from different testing and fleet telemetry data

Collaborate with controls, thermal, and software teams for feature integration

Analyze the effect of different control strategies on different vehicle attributes (such as cabin comfort vs energy consumption, battery conditioning vs charging rate, cooling prioritization under thermal or power constraints)

Collaborate with controls to define optimal control strategies and optimize controllers for different ambient and drive scenarios

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field

Strong knowledge of thermal systems or battery systems

5+ years of experience in thermal or battery systems modeling and simulation, or related fields

Proficient in Matlab/Simulink and Python for simulation model development, integration

tooling, and automation.
