Summary/Objective:
The Model Builder plays a critical role within the Survey and Construction team, responsible for transforming engineering and survey data into accurate, constructible 3D models. This position requires extensive expertise with Trimble Business Center (TBC) software and a thorough understanding of civil construction practices. The work directly supports machine control and field operations by ensuring that models are precise, reliable, and aligned with project specifications. By delivering high-quality models, the Model Builder helps increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve overall project outcomes.
Essential Functions:

- 3D Model Creation: Build accurate, constructible 3D models for various heavy civil projects (e.g., wet and dry utilities, excavation, paving) using Trimble Business Center.
- Data Preparation: Import and analyze design data from engineers, including CAD files, PDF plans, and specifications. Prepare and manipulate data to define surfaces, alignments, and other features required for machine control and field staking.
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC):Conduct thorough checks to verify the accuracy of all model data against design documents. Identify and resolve conflicts or ambiguities in the design to prevent field errors and costly rework.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers to ensure the correct information is being used and understood. Participate in project meetings and provide technical support to field staff.
- As-Built Data: Process and incorporate field survey data to produce as-built models and drawings at project completion.
- File Management: Maintain organized and standardized file structures for all project-related data and models.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a model builder in the civil construction industry.
- Proficiency in Trimble Business Center is essential.
- Ability to read and interpret civil grading plans, road alignments, cross-sections, and site details.
- Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A bachelor's or associate's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is .
