We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a (Mobile) Maintenance General Foreman at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

What's the role?

The Maintenance General Foreman reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and the role is to support the Underground Operations ensuring safe and efficient co-ordination of all mine maintenance activities and improvement projects. This role is responsible for leading the Underground Maintenance team, guiding and supporting them in supervision of the maintenance operation.

Duties include:

  • Coordinate the daily management, control and supervision of the working areas of the maintenance team in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Manage personnel rosters for effective labor coverage.
  • Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members.
  • Communicate the business objectives with the operations team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes.
  • Undertake a full inspection of all working areas throughout the shift as required to ensure safe operations.
  • Organize repairs, parts and /or labor for urgent or unplanned work.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance reporting.
  • Develop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.
  • Ensure all safety related activities are completed in accordance with Company policy such as Hazard ID's, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting as required.

The specifics:

  • Minimum 5 years mechanical experience in the mining industry.
  • Proven experience in a leading hand/supervisor role.
  • Proficient in prioritising work and scheduling/planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications
  • Advanced computer literacy Microsoft Office, Pronto or similar CMMS.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Experience in the practical application of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.

The Details:

Working a 22 day on, 20 day off schedule, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
