Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I to join our team at a leading mining operation in Colorado. In this role, you will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety in a demanding, high-altitude environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced equipment, develop your mechanical skills, and enjoy the outdoor recreation opportunities of Leadville, Colorado.

Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and graders.
• Remove, repair, and install major components such as transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, and motors.
• Conduct mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on hydraulic systems, powertrains, and engines.
• Prioritize repairs and make informed decisions to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain accurate work orders and perform equipment inspections.
• Operate mobile equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks safely and effectively.
• Perform various welding techniques including Carbon Arc, Plasma, MIG, TIG, and Stick.
• Assist as a Fill-in Supervisor and mentor other team members as needed.
• Adhere to safety standards and company policies throughout all tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and operational goals.

Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I Position Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical or maintenance crafts (e.g., welding, boilermaking, machining, industrial mechanical repair).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex machine systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic, drivetrain, and engine components.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prioritize repairs, make decisions, and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in operating mobile equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
• Skilled in various welding processes (Carbon Arc, Plasma, MIG, TIG, and Stick).
• Must pass a practical skills assessment and medical exam as required.

Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I Position Requirements:

• Experience with Caterpillar diagnostic and mechanical systems.
• Certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance or safety standards.
• Prior work experience in mining or heavy industrial settings.
