Mobile Electrical Engineer in London

Job Description

You keep buildings running. You're the person on the van, first on site when something trips, and you know how to work fast, work clean, and work alone without someone looking over your shoulder. If that sounds like your day-to-day, read on.

About our client

Our client is a well-established property and facilities business operating across Central London. They cover a diverse portfolio including residential and retail sites, and their engineering team handles reactive and planned maintenance across multiple locations. They move quickly, they trust their people, and they don't do micromanagement.

The role

This is a mobile, reactive maintenance position covering Central London. You'll be working across a varied portfolio of sites, responding to call-outs, carrying out testing and inspection work, and keeping things running day to day. The role is available on a PAYE or self-employed basis, and comes with a van for PAYE candidates. Working hours sit within a 7am to 6pm window, with a 40-hour guaranteed week and a one-in-three on-call rota.

What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out reactive and planned electrical maintenance across multiple Central London sites
  • Performing testing and inspection work to current wiring regulations
  • Responding to call-outs and emergency faults as part of an on-call rota
  • Travelling efficiently between sites across Central London, including red routes
  • Working independently and making sound decisions on site without needing to escalate minor issues
  • Liaising with site contacts professionally across a mixed residential and commercial portfolio

Skills and experience

Essential

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • 2391 Testing and Inspection
  • City and Guilds qualified
  • Proven mobile and reactive maintenance background
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites and travelling in Central London
  • Able and willing to take part in an on-call rota

Desirable

  • Self-employed or subcontracting background
  • Experience across residential maintenance
  • Retail or mixed-portfolio experience
  • Familiarity with emergency call-out work

Why join them

A varied, fast-moving role with plenty of autonomy. PAYE candidates receive a company van. There is strong earning potential beyond the base rate through overtime, and the role offers flexible engagement options to suit your working preference.
