OVERVIEW:
- The Mitigation Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all water, mold, and emergency mitigation projects from initial loss through project completion. This position manages mitigation crews, coordinates emergency response activities, ensures proper drying and remediation procedures are followed, maintains communication with customers and insurance representatives, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably
- The Mitigation Project Manager supervises the mitigation department and is responsible for maintaining quality standards, production goals, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company procedures and industry standards including IICRC guidelines
- This is an AT WILL position
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all water, mold, and emergency mitigation projects
- Supervise mitigation technicians and crew chiefs
- Coordinate emergency response and after-hours on-call scheduling
- Perform site inspections for water, mold, sewage, and related mitigation losses
- Develop mitigation scopes of work and drying plans
- Monitor drying progress using moisture meters, thermal imaging, and psychrometric readings
- Ensure all mitigation documentation is accurate and uploaded daily
- Review and approve mitigation job files, photos, moisture logs, and equipment usage
- Write and review estimates using Xactimate and Symbility and any related industry software
- Communicate directly with customers, insurance adjusters, property managers, and vendors
- Ensure all projects meet company quality standards and profitability goals
- Train and mentor mitigation staff in proper procedures, safety standards, and customer service
- Conduct regular jobsite visits and quality control inspections
- Ensure compliance with IICRC standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety procedures
- Coordinate equipment scheduling, inventory, and warehouse organization
- Assist in hiring, evaluating, coaching, and developing mitigation department staff
- Work closely with reconstruction/project management staff to ensure smooth transition from mitigation to rebuild
- Participate in marketing and relationship-building activities with adjusters, plumbers, property managers, and referral partners
- Respond to emergency situations as needed, including evenings and weekends
- Attend company meetings and training events
- Other duties as assigned.
Ability To:
- Manage multiple mitigation projects simultaneously
- Lead and motivate mitigation technicians and field staff
- Handle emergency and high-stress situations professionally
- Read and interpret moisture mapping, drying reports, and mitigation documentation
- Produce accurate estimates and scopes of work
- Maintain strong customer communication throughout projects
- Delegate tasks efficiently and monitor project progress
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
- Train employees on mitigation procedures and safety requirements
- Resolve customer concerns and project-related issues promptly
- Work independently while maintaining accountability and communication
Knowledge of:
- Water mitigation and mold remediation procedures
- IICRC standards including S500 and S520
- Structural drying principles and psychrometry
- Xactimate, Symbility, DASH, MICA, PLNAR, Docusketch and related industry software
- OSHA safety regulations and PPE requirements
- Moisture detection and monitoring equipment
- Insurance claims processes and mitigation documentation requirements
- Emergency service operations and scheduling
- Proper equipment setup for drying, dehumidification, and air filtration
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3–5 years of water mitigation/restoration management experience
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, etc.)
- Experience with Xactimate estimating software
- Valid driver's license required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, wet environments, and properties affected by water, mold, sewage, or fire damage
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and lifting
- Ability to wear PPE including respirators as required
