Job DescriptionJob Description

The Millwork Engineering Lead maintains ownership of the processes, deployment of resources, scheduling, and cost & quality controls surrounding the computer aided design of our millwork product lines and their timely delivery to our production operations. This position is expected to oversee, support, and direct the activities of a team of CAD Designers/CabinetVision Engineers, both from prioritization and a technical standpoint to ensure the on-time delivery of both production/machining files and layouts. In addition to directing staff, this position acts as a liaison to other functional areas of the company, working with other managers to design or refine efficiency promoting processes/standards. While this role is primarily tasked with ensuring the efficient flow of quality technical drawings/files through the department, it is expected that the incumbent will also coordinate and communicate the status of required drawings/jobs to all relevant stakeholders within the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including but are not limited to)

• Organize and maintain an accurate digital file structure (including naming conventions) for the department to ensure the most efficient attainment of source/base files by the team.

• Establish and hold others accountable to an optimally efficient workflow which includes the assured delivery of required information by their team.

• Develop, track, and continuously improve department metrics/KPIs related to throughput, on-time delivery and quality related to functional responsibilities of engineering and design.

• Direct and support Designers in the timely delivery of quality drawings/files to production areas through the prioritization of their work and acting as their advocate with other, interrelated functional areas of the Company.

• Assist in the coordination/determination of production timing/prioritization.

• Communicate and resolve issues/requests with appropriate internal parties.

• Management of teams, to include hiring, training, performance reviews, development, and performance management

• Prepare and maintain various reports and personnel records and enter pertinent data into Company cost accounting systems as needed.

• Maintain current knowledge design software solutions/updates.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (including but are not limited to)

• Mastery of CAD software in the design of cabinets/millwork products

• 3 plus years’ experience managing a team of direct reports.

• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Excel

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BA degree in technical discipline, Engineering; Architecture; Construction or related discipline.

• 3+ years of demonstrated success managing the computer aided design of millwork products from a cost, quality, and employee relations perspective.

• Experience with CabinetVision software required.

• Deep understanding of construction drawings and methods

• Demonstrated successful experience working both autonomously and with others in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong attention to detail.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience defining departmental policies and SOPs

• Experience working with Innergy

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Some minor exposure to saw dust created in product fabrication.

• Exposure to the sounds of a variety of shop machinery (saws, etc.)
