ModCorr offers rapid, efficient delivery and setup of minimum to maximum security correctional facilities and specialty units. All products are constructed offsite in a controlled environment and conform to the same building codes as traditional construction. ModCorr’s safe, secure and high-quality units comply with all American Correctional Association (ACA) and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all types of MIG Horizontal and Downhill welding throughout the department
- Review construction plans and understand scope of work
- Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
- Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position as needed.
- Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details specifications etc.
- Work within company safety rules including OSHA.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Must pass onsite MIG Welding Test
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year welding experience ()
- Good working knowledge of geometry, basic math and measuring instruments
- Good understanding of machining practices
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Ability to comprehend additional training in relation to performing the work duties
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Motivated and shows willingness to learn
- Team player who works in cooperation with others
Physical Demands:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or moving of 50 pounds and over, with frequent lifting and/or carrying odd shaped objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to climb and work at heights over five feet
- Ability to lift weights while performing work
- Ability to walk around the facility and plant area to perform daily work
- Must be alert and coordinated while performing welding

Work Location:
- In person. Houston, TX – Albright Dr. Warehouse / Some travel may be required and/or available.
Work Environment:
- Machine shop environment which may require the use of industrial hearing protection and/or other personal protective equipment.
