MIG/TIG Welder and Sheet Metal Worker (Temp-to-Perm)

Working hours and pay

  • \nLocation: Rugby
  • \n

  • \nHours: 7.30am-4.00pm, Monday-Thursday; 7.30am-12.30pm, Fridays (38 hours per week).
  • \n

  • \nPay rate: £15-£20 per hour, depending on experience.
  • \n

  • \nContract: Temporary with a view to a permanent position after a successful trial period.
  • \n

Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MIG/TIG Welder and Sheet Metal Worker to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in manufacturing high-quality metalwork, including bespoke staircases, balustrades, and fences, for commercial and residential projects. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for a dedicated and proficient individual.

Key responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine project specifications.
  • \n

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, to a high standard.
  • \n

  • Execute sheet metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, forming, bending, and shaping using a range of manual and automated machinery.
  • \n

  • Operate and set up various workshop machines, such as press brakes, guillotines, and saws.
  • \n

  • Assemble and finish fabricated components, ensuring all work meets specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • \n

  • Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity.
  • \n

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times, adhering to all company health and safety procedures.
  • \n

  • Collaborate effectively with the wider production team to ensure deadlines are met.
  • \n

Essential skills and experience

\n

    \n
  • Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator and Sheet Metal Worker in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • \n

  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
  • \n

  • Ability to read and accurately interpret technical and engineering drawings.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of standard fabrication and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
  • \n

  • Experience with workshop machinery is highly beneficial.
  • \n

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • \n

  • Good manual dexterity and physical fitness.
  • \n

  • Reliable, punctual, and a positive team player.
  • \n

Desirable qualities

\n

    \n
  • Experience in fabricating staircases, balustrades, or fences.
  • \n

  • Relevant certifications in welding or fabrication.
  • \n
