Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in HVAC system design, project coordination, and industry codes and standards. This role involves working on design projects, communicating with clients and architects, and collaborating with cross-discipline teams to deliver innovative HVAC solutions for various sectors including commercial, retail/hospitality, industrial, healthcare, aviation, transportation (rail/transit/ports), education, and civic/community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide the design, analysis, and implementation of HVAC systems for various projects.
- Develop detailed HVAC drawings, specifications, and schematics using CAD and BIM software.
- Perform load calculations, energy analysis, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selections to optimize system performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and sustainability requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners, and other engineering disciplines to define project scope and integrate HVAC systems seamlessly.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Review and approve project documentation including calculations, equipment schedules, construction drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
- Conduct site inspections to verify existing conditions and ensure installation compliance.
- Stay current with emerging HVAC technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Participate in project planning, report writing, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
Job Qualifications and skills
Minimum qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience in HVAC system design and engineering for facilities/buildings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure, juggle multiple projects concurrently, and motivate multi-discipline project teams in meeting client needs in a timely manner and within budget objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and HVAC design software (EnergyPro, IESVE, Trane Trace 700, Carrier HAP).
qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Associate Degree focused on HVAC Design/Installation.
- EIT or Professional Engineer License is a plus.
- LEED Certification, CEM, PMP, or CxA is a plus.
