Job Description

Our client, a leading UK contractor in the rail industry, is seeking an experienced MEP Technical (Mechanical) Manager to support the delivery of an internalised MEP strategy. This approach focuses on reducing reliance on external supply chains, improving quality, enhancing safety standards, and strengthening programme control.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDesign & Engineering Leadership\n\nLead the delivery and coordination of mechanical MEP design information\nCollaborate with designers and BIM teams to maximise value and reduce risk\nEnsure high-quality, compliant engineering solutions are delivered\n\nStrategic & Business Contribution\n\nContribute to regional strategy, planning, and overall business performance\nSupport internal MEP delivery initiatives and continuous improvement\n\nStakeholder & Client Management\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and partners\nEnsure positive commercial and project outcomes\n\nTeam & Resource Management\n\nLead and develop engineering teams, including mentoring and capability growth\nManage internal and external resource requirements effectively\n\nWork Winning & Preconstruction\n\nSupport bid submissions and tender activities\nProvide technical input during early project stages to secure new work\n\nHealth, Safety & Environment\n\nChampion high standards of HSE performance\nPromote a zero-harm culture across all projects\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nStrong experience working with a main contractor or large subcontractor\nDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience\nIn-depth knowledge of Mechanical Building Services (MEP)\nProven experience managing and developing teams\nStrong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines\nClient-focused with excellent communication skills\nCommercial awareness and understanding of project delivery\nProactive and able to take initiative\n\nBenefits:\n\nCompetitive salary\n26 days annual leave (increasing with service)\nPension scheme\nPrivate medical insurance\nLife insurance\nShare / bonus schemes\nFlexible lifestyle benefits\nPaid volunteering days\nIf you are an experienced MEP Technical (Mechanical) Manager looking to advance your career within a dynamic and challenging environment, we would love to hear from you.
