MEP Commercial Manager

GEDON Executive is seeking a strategic and commercially astute MEP Commercial Manager to join a leading European sustainability specialist in London. This is a pivotal role for a proven professional with a passion for sustainable building solutions, offering the opportunity to drive the commercial success of complex and high-value projects across the capital.

As MEP Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial aspects of our client's mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) projects. You'll ensure profitability, mitigate risks, and contribute directly to the delivery of cutting-edge, low-carbon building solutions that align with the company's core mission of sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial Leadership: Take full ownership of the commercial management of large-scale MEP projects from tender through to final account.
• Contract Management: Administer and manage complex contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC), ensuring compliance and optimal commercial outcomes.
• Financial Performance: Take responsibility for project profitability, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and cash flow management.
• Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, particularly those related to innovative sustainable technologies.
• Tender & Procurement: Support the tendering process, manage procurement activities, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best commercial terms.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams, acting as a trusted commercial advisor.
• Sustainability Focus: Actively contribute to the company's sustainability goals by ensuring commercial practices support and enhance the delivery of low-carbon solutions.

What You'll Bring

• Proven Experience: Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a large MEP contractor in the UK.
• Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of the M&E industry and demonstrable experience in commercial, health, education, or other complex building sectors.
• Sustainability Passion: A genuine interest in and understanding of sustainable building practices and technologies.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
• Commercial Acumen: Exceptional commercial awareness and financial management abilities.
• Contractual Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of various standard forms of construction contracts.
• Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS) is highly desirable.
