Our client is seeking a Medical Physicist to join their East Texas Physics POD, supporting clinics in Longview, Tyler, and Palestine. The Medical Physicist will collaborate closely with a regional team of 4 physicists and 6 dosimetrists, delivering high-quality clinical physics support across multiple advanced radiation oncology programs.

This role offers exposure to a highly advanced technology environment, supporting a broad range of external beam and brachytherapy procedures.

Technology Equipment

The East Texas POD is equipped with:

  • 7 Varian Linear Accelerators

    • 2 TrueBeam

    • 1 Halcyon

    • 4 Varian 2100 C-Series

  • 2 HDR programs utilizing Nucletron afterloaders

  • Treatment planning and verification systems including:
    Eclipse, BrainLab, VariSeed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation, and RadCalc

Clinical programs include SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals, with limited procedures not offered due to the breadth of available technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide the full range of on-site clinical medical physics support at the assigned primary clinic.

  • Support external beam and brachytherapy treatments, including SBRT, SRS, HDR, and LDR.

  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, and fellow physicists to ensure accurate and safe treatment delivery.

  • Participate in quality assurance, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of clinical systems and workflows.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best-practice implementation across the region.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Varian linear accelerators.

  • Working knowledge of Varian VariSource / Bravos HDR afterloaders.

  • Experience with Eclipse and BrachyVision treatment planning systems.

  • Familiarity with MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System.

  • Practical knowledge of HDR, SBRT, and SRS procedures.

  • Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP-accredited program.

  • Graduate of a CAMPEP-accredited program.

  • ABR board certified or in the process of obtaining certification (e.g., recent graduate).

  • Eligible for Texas Medical Physicist licensure.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
