Job Description: Histotechnician / Histotechnologist – Vaccines
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Schedule: 3rd Shift – 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Assignment Type: Contract (with potential extension and conversion to permanent based on performance)
Pay Rate - $30-$40 pr hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Histotechnician / Histotechnologist to join our team in Milwaukee, WI, supporting the Vaccines division. This role is responsible for performing complex medical laboratory testing to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The ideal candidate will have strong histology experience, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform embedding and microtomy, cutting and embedding 30–40 blocks per hour.
- Review laboratory findings to ensure accuracy of results.
- Develop, evaluate, and modify histology procedures and techniques.
- Instruct staff on the operation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment (spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers).
- Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory staff including assistants, technicians, and technologists.
- Accurately document, analyze, and report laboratory results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field.
- 8–10 years of relevant laboratory and histotechnology experience.
- Proficiency in embedding and microtomy.
- Ability to process 30–40 blocks per hour (cutting and embedding).
- Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and local regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting vaccine or pharmaceutical laboratory environments.
- Experience mentoring and training histology staff.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Negative THC screen required.
- Credentialing form completion, transcripts submission (post-background check).
- Immunization requirements: Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, T-DAP, Flu, Varicella, COVID-19.
