As a Journeyman Medical Gas Plumber, you'll be involved in the precise installation, modification, and repair of essential utility, supply, and disposal systems. You'll work with a variety of commercial plumbing systems, ensuring functionality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Installation & Repair: Install, modify, and repair various plumbing systems, fixtures, fittings, and equipment. This includes sewage, water, gas, and oil lines, compressed air, vacuum, acid systems, water closets, water heaters, hydrants, valves, and pumps.
- Commercial Plumbing Expertise: Work extensively in a commercial plumbing environment, handling installations, modifications, and repairs.
- Blueprint Interpretation & Layout: Accurately read blueprints and lay out plumbing systems for both underground rough-in and top-out phases.
- Code Compliance: Possess a strong understanding of plumbing codes across different jurisdictions.
- Diverse Piping Systems: Install DWV (Drain, Waste, and Vent systems), domestic water piping (hot & cold systems), and acid waste systems in new construction or remodel projects.
- Specialized Gas Systems: Install natural gas systems and critical medical gas systems (including vacuum, O2, Medical Air, and nitrogen).
- Fixture Installation: Expertly set plumbing fixtures for commercial buildings and hospitals.
- Joining Techniques: Proficiently solder and braze copper tubing, thread steel pipe, and ideally, use ProPress.
- System Testing: Conduct rigorous testing procedures by filling pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observing pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Structural Modification: Precisely cut openings in structures using hand and power tools to accommodate pipes and fittings.
- Underground Systems: Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems, and extend piping to these systems.
What You'll Bring:
- Licensure: A valid Medical Gas License in Texas is required.
- Experience: Proven experience in a commercial plumbing environment.
- State License: Hold a current State plumbing license or be immediately qualified to sit for the exam in Texas.
- Blueprint & Code Knowledge: Ability to read blueprints and lay out plumbing systems with a solid understanding of plumbing codes.
- Technical Proficiency: Recommended ability to solder & braze copper tubing, thread steel pipe, and use ProPress.
- Driving Record: A valid Driver's License is required.
