While our work spans multiple commercial sectors, this role focuses specifically on medical facilities, such as ground-up clinics, outpatient centers, ambulatory surgical centers, dental offices, urgent care, and medical office buildings (MOBs). ECI is headquartered in Austin and serves clients across Central Texas while also targeting other major Texas markets.

The Ideal Medical Construction Lead Superintendent:

Must be experienced in the following –

• ATTENTION TO DETAIL! (especially critical in medical-grade finishes and compliance-driven builds)

• Project Scheduling – maintain weekly updates. MS Projects experience a plus. 

• OSHA Trained/Certified – 30 Hour ()

• Safety enforcement along with conducting weekly onsite toolbox meetings

• Utilize Procore to complete daily reports, monitor conversations, and take daily pictures

• Coordinate inspections (including specialized medical inspections and compliance reviews)

• Generate and complete punch lists

• Subcontractor Change Order verification and validate labor/material projections

• Clear and assertive communication in the field is critical and can include direct conversations with Owners, Architects, Consultants, and Healthcare Providers

• Must be a problem solver with a proactive mentality – this is not just a skill, but a reflection of one’s desire to fully understand and embrace a challenge till a solution is developed

• Maintain ethical business practices in every aspect of your daily actions

• Experience working with AHJs and healthcare regulatory bodies including city building & development departments, TDLR, and healthcare facility licensing bodies

• Ability to interpret blueprints and coordinate between architectural, structural, and MEP/medical gas designs to ensure they flow together and match

• Contact and schedule subcontractors – must be able to motivate subcontractors/suppliers to meet the intent of highly specialized plans & specifications

• Overall knowledge/understanding of horizontal and vertical construction including but not limited to; Cut and Fill sites, Utilities, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and medical-specific systems like oxygen, vacuum, and nurse call

• Dependable form of transportation

• Available and willing to voluntarily work after hours. Some projects require more than others, but at critical points can demand extra time commitments

• Organize and conduct weekly onsite subcontractor meetings to discuss safety practices, current events, schedule, quality control, etc.

• Work with office staff and respond in a timely manner, including but not limited to emails

• Be available, punctual, and accountable for meetings, requests from staff, etc.

• Lead Superintendents must have a valid Texas Driver’s License (If out of state, you have 60 days to obtain a valid Texas Driver’s License)

• This is NOT a traveling superintendent position

• ECI does NOT provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status).

• Residential or multi-family-only construction experience will not be considered. We require a seasoned Commercial Medical Construction Superintendent who can hit the ground running.
