Mechanical Technician
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: based on experience, $25-35/hr+
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Electrical Technician to support the build and deployment of advanced hardware systems in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This role involves working closely with engineering and operations teams to assemble, test, and improve mechanical and electrical systems used in manufacturing and automation applications.
The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic setting with evolving priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the build and deployment of hardware systems and equipment
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies
- Perform light fabrication work (cutting, bending, drilling, welding) to support prototyping and testing
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on design and process improvements
- Support general facility needs and maintain organized, efficient workspaces (5S)
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware-related issues
Qualifications
- Technical training, trade school certification, associate degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience assembling, troubleshooting, and working with mechanical and electrical systems
- Familiarity with fabrication or machine shop environments
- Experience working with small, delicate, or precision components
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Comfortable adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Experience with metrology tools (e.g., 3D scanning or measurement systems) is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable using shop tools and equipment
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, and work in various physical positions
