About this Opportunity:
This position plans and performs engineering, design and other technical/administrative task involved in the concept, development, and industrialization of products and processes throughout operations with minimum supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Design and construction of varying degrees of complex mechanical assemblies and equipment used to support automated/semi-automate production equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and react to substandard performance & emergency repair needs. Install, debugs & makes modifications to new installations.
- Efficiently operate across diverse assignments including all types of Planned and Unplanned work.
- Proficiently use computers including all Windows based programs test equipment, most hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Proficient with metal cutting tools (i.e., Proto Trak, lathe, etc.)
- Proficient with modeling software (i.e., Solidworks, Autocad, etc) used to design and build mechanical systems to support automated equipment.
- Able to understand and work from schematics, programming , sketches, written and verbal instructions and complete assignments under minimum supervision.
- Capable of understanding software programs (PLC's, Vision System and Robotic applications).
- Participate and implement Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement initiative supporting Quality Reliability and Engineering initiatives.
- Documents new procedures, drawing sets and associated work instructions.
- Communicate and interacts with vendors, internal customers and colleagues as necessary.
- Supports and participates in all Housekeeping, Ideal Board Meeting, Lean and 6S opportunities.
- Operates equipment including start up and shut down, including proper LOTO procedures as necessary.
- Consistently meets Safety, Quality and Operations standards including required documentation with all assignments.
- Properly follow all H&M procedures and policies.
- Use P.P.E. per JHA and Job description; required to wear safety shoes with standard F2412 and F2413 rating. Individuals trained in NFPA 70 Arc Flash are required to wear electrical hazard safety shoes with the F2412 EH and F2413 EH rating.
- Required to work overtime alternate schedules as business needs dictate.
- Perform all duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in related engineering field or three years equivalent industrial and or military background with mechanical systems preferably in machine shop or automation environment.
- Basic skills in engineering computer software, engineering methodology and test equipment.
- Good communication, interpersonal skills and report writing ability.
- Ability to read interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to do basic math in all units or measures, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals: Ability to compute rate, ration and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished and written, oral, and drawing forms. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables and standardized situations.
