World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a number of Mechanical Systems Engineer / Architects on an initial 6 month contract.  The department can have the role based from either the Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton sites.\n \nThis role would suit a candidate who comes from a strong background of working as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Systems Engineer, Mechanical Architect or has experience of Mechanical Systems Architecture.  A defence / aerospace background is ideal but not essential. DOORS experience would be great. \n \nRate: £60.00 per hour\nOvertime Rate: Hours worked over the standard 37 hours per week, will be paid at ‘time and a quarter’\nLocation: Stevenage, Bolton or Bristol depending on your preference\nHybrid / Remote working: 3-4 days onsite needed. Will be 5 days onsite to begin with due to training needs\nDuration: 6 Months with very likely extension.

Contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter.  \nIR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)\nInterview process: One stage video interview\n \nMechanical Systems Engineer / Architect Job Description:\n \nWe have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Architect to join the team. This exciting role is to gather and manage the missile mechanical architecture requirements to achieve missile performance, on time and on cost and overall layout vs compliance. This involves providing justification of the design and co-ordinate the verification evidence of missile performance to support certification.\n \nResponsibilities:\n \nThe role is responsible for the delivery of the missile mechanical architecture requirements and typical responsibilities include:\n\nEstablishing the Missile Airframe Task Requirements Specification (TRS) to ensure a structured & coherent mechanical response to the overall Missile TRS\nManagement of the mechanical interface with the launcher\nManagement of Mechanical & Thermal Interfaces across the Missile\nDefining the optimum mechanical architecture for all variants of the missile, ensuring the mechanical architecture and interfaces meet requirements\nImplementation of GMA Policies to ensure Modularity & Reuse objectives are achieved\nDevelopment of the overall proving logic for the validation of the Airframe\nEnsuring mechanical compliance to the Airframe TRS for missile certificate of design\nInterface with and manage customer expectations throughout the development process\nProducing Statements of Work and plans for activities within their sphere of responsibility\nDirect technical supervision of engineers within their team and indirect management of engineers in the extended project team\nControlling assigned budgets, managing personal workload and identifying any further resource needs \nSkillset/experience required:\n\nEducated to degree level with 10 years’ experience or an equivalent qualification having obtained significant experience of mechanical engineering\nAbility to technically manage internal & sub-contract activities\nStrong leadership skills, able to establish a clear engineering vision\nGood knowledge & experience of mechanical design, including: Static & Dynamic Analysis, Design for Environment or Thermal Management.\nGood understanding of broader engineering disciplines, including:\nAerodynamics\nTestability\nProduction\nExperience developing proving logic and managing the of compliance evidence towards Certificates of Design\nExperience across the full Product Life Cycle\nAbility to influence senior managers and other stakeholders\nStrong interpersonal and well developed communication skills (written & verbal)\nWillingness to travel within UK and Europe\nDOORS experience would be great
