MAIN RESPONSIBILITY: The Mechanical Service Engineer will lead installation and startup of new paper machines and related equipment in North America. Additionally, the engineer will troubleshoot/service existing paper machines and related equipment.
Company Relationship:
The daily work of the candidate will be coordinated from Toscotec North America under the
supervision of North American Service Manager. The candidate will work with the following
departments:
• Project Management Department
• Technical Department
• Production Department
• Purchasing department
• Suppliers and customers
Position Responsibilities:
• Lead the installation of tissue machine and auxiliary equipment installation.
• Install and supervise hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
• Install and supervise water and stock preparation piping, components and equipment.
• Organize and update installation schedule, sharing with customer and supplier any changes to the timeline.
• Handle on site logistic coordination.
• Control and teach the customer team about maintenance and operational procedures.
• Support the Toscotec commissioning team during testing and start-up.
• Support Toscotec colleagues to perform testing and fine-tuning on paper machine to meet the customer’s technical specifications and optimizations.
• Solve mechanical and process issues and propose alternative solutions/improvements.
• Troubleshoot and optimize any areas of the paper making process.
• Write detailed reports about installation process, paper making issues, services and inspections.
Education Requirements:
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, with paper industry knowledge or equivalent combination
Qualifications:
• Engineering’s Degree or Associated Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• Ability to travel 40-60 percent up to 3 weeks continuously within North America, and Italy.
• Ability to occasionally work nonstandard hours including 12-hour shifts, night shift, day shift, swing shift, weekends, and holidays.
• Paper manufacturing knowledge is a must.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment including motors, servos, pumps, drives, hydraulics, valves and power transmission.
• Knowledge of industrial instrumentation including transmitters, valves, actuators, positioners, electric and pneumatic panels, etc.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Knowledge of other European : Italian/Spanish will be a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
• Ability to deal effectively with others team members, and customers.
• Effective troubleshooting skills.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Package.
• Familiar with Autocad, SOLIDWORKS.
• Ability to use power and hand tools to perform maintenance.
• Ability to work in the United States.
Location:
The position is a full-time job with flexible location. The candidate must be able to work in the USA within a reasonable distance from an airport for travel. Occasional trips to the North American Office in Green Bay Wisconsin and the Toscotec Office in Lucca Italy are required.
