Mechanical Project Officer - Fixed Term until 31 March 2026

Multi-Site Coverage across 3 Campuses - Belfast, Coleraine, Derry/ L'Derry



We are recruiting a Project Officer to join the Estates team on a fixed-term contract. This role focuses on the planning and delivery of campus improvement works across a range of building, mechanical, and electrical projects.



Base location can be flexible either Belfast, Coleraine or Derry/ L'Derry



Hybrid working is available but the nature of the role will often require you to be on site



The Role



You will be responsible for delivering campus improvement projects from inception to completion. This includes technical design, project management, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with health and safety and statutory requirements.



Supporting surveys, defect analysis, and recommendations for remedial works

Providing technical design input including feasibility studies, specifications, and tender documentation

Managing projects through all phases, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required standard

Liaising with internal stakeholders, service providers, and external contractors

Preparing and managing budgets, cost estimates, and financial controls

Ensuring adherence to all relevant health and safety legislation

Supporting funding submissions, reporting, and departmental procedures

Supervising contractors and departmental staff where required

Collaborating with other Project Officers to provide operational cover when needed



What We Are Looking For



A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field

Experience managing small to medium refurbishment, maintenance, or improvement projects

Proficiency in design development, technical documentation, and tender processes

Proven contractor management and cost control experience

Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

A flexible approach to working, including travel between campuses and occasional out-of-hours support

Access to transport and a commitment to delivering high standards across all projects

Experience with BMS systems is desirable
