Mechanical Project / Contracts Manager\n\n Essex | Small, Growing Contractor | Director Progression Opportunity\n\nAn established small-sized contractor based in Essex is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project / Contracts Manager to take ownership of and grow their mechanical division.\n\nCurrently subcontracting all mechanical works, the business has a strong pipeline of upcoming commercial projects and is looking for the right individual to bring this function in-house, develop a team, and play a key role in shaping the future of the company.\n\nThe Role\n\n * \n\n Lead and develop the mechanical division from the ground up\n\n * \n\n Oversee delivery of commercial mechanical projects (heating, plumbing, pipefitting)\n\n * \n\n Manage projects from pre-construction through to completion\n\n * \n\n Build and maintain strong client relationships\n\n * \n\n Develop and manage a network of self-employed trades and subcontractors\n\n * \n\n Contribute to business growth, strategy, and long-term planning\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Full project/contract management including cost control, procurement, and programme delivery\n\n * \n\n Grow and manage a reliable labour and subcontractor supply chain\n\n * \n\n Attend client meetings and act as the face of the mechanical division\n\n * \n\n Identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency\n\n * \n\n Support tendering and pricing of new work\n\n * \n\n Work closely with senior leadership to scale the division\n\nIdeal Candidate\n\n * \n\n Strong background in pipefitting or plumbing\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or Contracts Manager\n\n * \n\n Established network of self-employed mechanical trades\n\n * \n\n Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and margins\n\n * \n\n Confident in client-facing roles and developing accounts\n\n * \n\n Ambitious and motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a division\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * \n\n Genuine opportunity to progress into a Director-level position\n\n * \n\n Autonomy to shape and grow your own department\n\n * \n\n Work with a business that already has a solid pipeline of commercial projects\n\n * \n\n Long-term career growth in a supportive, entrepreneurial environment
