Mechanical Project Manager - HVAC and Building Systems
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver medium-to-large mechanical and HVAC projects from planning through completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating project teams, managing budgets and schedules, ensuring quality and safety standards, and communicating with stakeholders. A background in mechanical engineering, hands-on HVAC knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft applications is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and close projects according to budget, schedule, and scope while ensuring compliance with company standards and client requirements.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors; define roles and responsibilities and foster collaboration.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates; monitor progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage procurement and vendor relationships, including obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts, and overseeing supplier performance.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure work quality, adherence to specifications, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and deliver clear project documentation and reports for stakeholders, including status updates, risk assessments, and change orders.
- Identify project risks and issues early; develop mitigation strategies and escalate when necessary to keep projects on track.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, optimizing processes, and promoting best practices across projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of project management experience, preferably managing mechanical or HVAC-focused projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation practices, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated technical understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to building systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel (advanced functions and project tracking), Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and familiarity with CAD/BIM is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as project demands require.
