Role Overview
The Mechanical Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering high‑performance HVAC system designs across a diverse portfolio of educational, civic, arts, and commercial projects. This role blends technical expertise with collaborative project leadership to ensure engineering excellence, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery. You will contribute to the advancement of mechanical design standards, mentor emerging engineers, and support the continued growth of our engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities

Design HVAC systems for a wide range of building types, ensuring performance, efficiency, and code compliance

Lead mechanical design efforts from concept through construction documentation

Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to support project goals

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff

Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system analysis

Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned with quality standards

Support internal teams and clients with clear communication and technical expertise

Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and workflows
Required Qualifications

Licensed Mechanical Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia

7–10 years of professional mechanical engineering experience

Proficiency in design load calculation and energy modeling tools (Trace, ComCheck)

Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Proficiency in Revit

Strong communication and presentation skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor junior staff
