Mechanical Project Engineer\n\nNottingham | £50,000 - £60,000 + Car + Bonus + Excellent Benefits\n\nOur client, a well-established and growing Mechanical & Electrical Design and Build Contractor, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Project Engineer to join their team based in Nottingham.\n\nOperating across a diverse range of industrial and commercial sectors, our client delivers complex mechanical and electrical building services projects valued from £50,000 to over £5 million. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially aware engineer to take ownership of projects from inception through to completion within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nAs a Mechanical Building Services Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the management, coordination, installation and commissioning of mechanical HVAC systems across multiple commercial and industrial projects.\n\nWorking closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop mechanical HVAC system specifications and prepare construction drawings, schedules and technical documentation.\nProduce technical submissions and manage RFI communications.\nProcure materials and place orders with suppliers and subcontractors.\nCoordinate and manage site-based activities and subcontractor performance.\nTake commercial responsibility for projects from contract award through to final account.\nPrepare and agree monthly applications for payment.\nMonitor project costs, labour allocation, material expenditure and profitability.\nManage variations, additional works and associated commercial negotiations.\nAttend client meetings, subcontractor meetings, site inspections and progress reviews.\nResolve technical and construction-related issues as they arise.\nOrganise and oversee commissioning, testing and handover activities.\nPrepare Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals and project close-out documentation.\nProvide technical support and guidance to clients where required.\nMaintain awareness of current HVAC technologies and industry developments.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nThe successful candidate will possess a combination of strong technical knowledge, project management capability and commercial awareness.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nMinimum 10 years' experience within the Mechanical HVAC Design & Build sector.\nStrong understanding of HVAC systems, principles and building services engineering.\nExperience managing mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong commercial and financial management capabilities.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.\nExcellent problem-solving and organisational skills.\n\nQualifications\n\nApplicants should ideally hold:\n\nHNC, HND or Degree qualification in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.Candidates with alternative qualifications supported by significant industry experience will also be considered.\n\nDesirable\n\nExperience using AutoCAD.\nKnowledge or exposure to Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\nSalary of £50,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience.\nCompany car.\nCompany phone and laptop.\nPension scheme.\nPerformance-related bonus scheme.\nOpportunity to work on technically challenging and varied projects.\nStable and supportive working environment with genuine career progression opportunities.\n\nLocation\n\nThis is a full-time, office-based position located in Nottingham.
