Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Step into a role where engineering meets innovation. As a Mechanical Project Engineer at NKC of America Inc., you’ll play a key part in designing and delivering cutting-edge material handling systems that keep operations moving.
- Design, develop, and detail mechanical components, equipment, and machinery from concept to completion
- Apply core engineering principles to create solutions across fabrication, installation, operation, and maintenance
- Lead and support engineering studies to develop efficient, reliable material handling systems tailored to customer needs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams to drive project success
- Create detailed technical drawings and specifications that ensure systems meet all performance, safety, and quality standards
- Perform FEA and other advanced analyses to validate designs and optimize performance
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with precision and confidence
- Design and model conveyor systems and components using AutoCAD, Inventor, and other 3D CAD tools
- Partner closely with fabrication and manufacturing teams to bring designs to life
- Support field installations, modifications, and commissioning activities
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials, drawings, and standard designs to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Contribute to the development of new conveyor technologies, including cost evaluations and standardization efforts
- Assist Sales and Technical Services teams in developing competitive, high-quality bid proposals
- Engineer complete conveyor systems—including overhead, inverted, power & free, EMS, and more—factoring in supports, controls, timing, and system performance
- Take initiative in responsibilities that support team and project success
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a relevant industry
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Strong analytical mindset with proven problem-solving abilities
- Experience with 3D CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or Inventor
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed (25% travel required)
