Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a large substation project for the next 1 – 2 years in Ipswich, Suffolk\n\nPaying £425 – 450 a day + Outside IR35 + Site/ Home working + Long Term\n\nWe are currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a strong mechanical background to support a major substation project based in Ipswich.\n\nThis is a long-term contract opportunity offering over 1 – 2 years of work, with a planned start date in July/August 2026.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering substation works, coordinating engineering activities, supporting site teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.\n\nKey Requirements\n\n * Proven experience working as a Project Engineer within the utilities, power, or energy sector\n\n * Strong mechanical engineering background\n\n * Previous experience working on substation projects is essential\n\n * Ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site activities\n\n * Strong understanding of HSE and quality standards\n\n * Excellent communication and organisational skills\n\nResponsibilities\n\n * Support delivery of substation installation and upgrade works\n\n * Review engineering drawings and technical documentation\n\n * Liaise with clients, site teams, and subcontractors\n\n * Ensure works are completed in line with programme and specifications\n\n * Assist with planning, reporting, and project coordination\n\n * Maintain high safety and quality standards throughout delivery\n\nContract Details\n\n * Location: Ipswich\n\n * Start Date: July / August 2026\n\n * Duration: 12+ months\n\n * Rate: £400 – £450 per day\n\n * Contract: Outside IR35\n\nPlease ring Ollie at HP4 Recruitment or send your CV on the details listed
